Designed for licensed estheticians, this category challenges you to document an 8-week acne treatment case study, proving your skills and showing the world the transformative power of professional skincare.

This category qualifies for the Esthetician of the Year title; the most prestigious award in The Skin Games, carrying a $10,000 grand prize for the competitor who places highest across their top-three qualifying skincare categories.

What the Judges

Are Looking For.

Your case study is scored across four weighted criteria by an independent panel of licensed estheticians and industry experts. Understanding the rubric is your first competitive advantage.

Visual
Improvement

The client’s skin must show a distinct, measurable improvement over the eight-week period. Before-and-after photos are the centrepiece of your submission — judges evaluate the magnitude of visible change, the quality of documentation, and the consistency of photography. Same location, same lighting, same angle throughout.

Protocol &
Planning

Estheticians must provide a complete treatment and homecare plan for all eight weeks. Not a generic protocol, but a fully customised plan that responds to the individual client’s acne presentation. The forms provided must be completed in full. Judges evaluate the clinical logic, sequencing, and adaptability of the treatment approach.

Modality &
Product Knowledge

Demonstrate deep knowledge of correct protocols and ingredient science for acne treatment. What you used, why you used it, and how it interacts with the skin’s condition — all evaluated through the written case study, video submissions, and the live interview process. Generic product use without justification does not score well.

Compliance &
Standards

Judges verify that you are working within the scope of your esthetician license, following TSG competition guidelines, and providing all required documentation. This includes a current license or compliance documentation, and a clear explanation of why the chosen treatment plan was selected. Standards matter — this is a professional competition.
