SUGARING COMPETITION

Learn about our Sugaring Competition

Scoring and Judging* will be based on the following:

  • A minimum of 3 videos including introduction video.
  • Videos must be landscape frame for posting on The Skin Games YouTube channel.
  • Videos must not be more than 2 minutes long.
  • Must upload photo/video release from model. This can be found on The Skin Games website.

Video 1  Player’s introduction video: Some ideas ~ Who are you? How long have you been practicing sugaring? Where do you practice sugaring? What do you love most about sugaring? What would you like new clients to know about sugaring?

Video 2: Sugaring any body part except from Brazilian (social media friendly). Ideas for content
~ Show the judges your treatment room setup, your products, why you love the products you use, your
pre and post care, maybe your retail suggestions.

Video 3: Sugaring a different body part than Video 2, (no Brazilian, social media friendly).
Ideas for content ~ Show the judges your treatment room setup, your products, why you love the products you use, your pre and post care, maybe your retail suggestions.

LIVE SHOW COMPETITION:
2. Presentation of the contestant
a. Professional demeanor and attire.
3. Infection Control
a. Clean workspace.
b. Pre and post care for client.
c. Zero cross contamination.
d. Gloves worn on both hands.
4. Efficiency (not speed)
a. Is the contestant economically and ergonomically aware?
b. practicing eco friendliness?
c. Did the hair get extracted by the root?
5. Technique
a. 100% “Hand + Ball” method. No strips, sticks or spatulas.
b. Application and control of sugaring paste.
c. Did the contestant remove the hair in the direction of growth, or did they wax with a sugaring product?
d. Did the contestant support the skin?
e. Was the contestant aware of the client’s comfort or discomfort?
f. Player’s understanding of sugaring paste.

Leg Sugaring Category:

1. Contestant must bring their own model. Photo of model’s legs before and after.
2. Leg hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation. The best model is one that has not sugared, waxed, or shaved in over 6 weeks. Those who have had laser treatments and have minimal hair should not be selected as a model.
3. 30 minutes Competition time
Area to sugar will be from one inch above the knee to the bottom of the ankle, including toes if necessary. Front and back of the leg.
a. Take before photo
b. 30 minutes to position your model, prep skin, sugar both the lower legs front and back, and use post care, take after photo.
c. Clean and sanitize your area.

Brazilian Sugaring Category:
1. Contestant must bring their own model. Photo of model required for before and after.
2. Brazilian hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for
showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to
showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation. Those who have shaved, waxed, sugared in
the past 6 weeks may not be the best model.
3. 30 minutes Competition time – Area to sugar: Full front only. Top of panty line down and all the way over to the top creases of
both legs.
a. Take before photo
b. 30 minutes to position your model, prep skin, sugaring full front only for Brazilian sugaring,
and use post care, take after photo.
c. Clean and sanitize your area.

Facial Sugaring Category:
1. Contestant must bring their own model. Photo of model’s brows & lips before and after.
2. Brow & lip hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation.
3. 20 minutes competition time – Area to sugar will be both brows, top and bottom, and center.
a. Take before photo
b. 20 minutes to position your model, prep skin, sugar both the brows, top, bottom and center, sugar the upper lip, use post care, take after photo.
c. Clean and sanitize your area.

Rules for participation:

• Contestants must be an active licensed professional.
• Contestants agree to follow the rules and regulations of the competition.
• Contestants, once registered, shall submit an introduction video. Who are you? How long have you been practicing sugaring? Where do you practice sugaring? What do you love most about sugaring? See below for more information.
• Contestants agree to 100% “Hand & Ball” method of sugaring hair removal. No sticks, spatulas, or strips will be used during the competition.
• Contestants agree to provide a model (with adequate hair growth) for the competition. Models must have visible hair. The best models will not have shaved, waxed, or sugared in the past 6+ weeks.
• Contestants agree to be professional and present themselves as they would in a work environment.
• Contestant’s models agree to a before and after photos for judging purposes.

Categories for the Competition: There will be a first, second, and third place winner in each category. To win best overall Sugarist, you must enter all 3 categories.

• Leg Sugaring
• Brazilian Sugaring (private and modest judging area, no spectators)
• Facial Sugaring (brows & lips)

Leg Sugaring

  • Leg hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation.
  • 30 minutes Competition time Area to sugar will be from one inch above the knee to the bottom of the ankle, including toes if necessary. Front and back of the leg.
    • 5 minutes to prepare your area and position your model. START
    • 20 minutes to prep skin, sugar both the lower legs front and back, and use post care. STOP

Brazilian Sugaring

Scoring and judging will be based on the following:

  • Brazilian Sugaring Category:
  •  Contestant must bring their own model. (client must wear disposable underwear Photo of model required for before and after ) or an alternative for modesty and discretion
  • Contestant will provide the sugaring paste of their choice, a sugaring paste warmer, and all necessary supplies.
  • Brazilian hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation.
  • 45 minutes Competition time Area to sugar: Full front only. Top of panty line down and all the way over to the top creases of both legs.
    • 5 minutes to prepare your area and position your model. START
    • 30 minutes to prep skin, sugaring full front only for Brazilian sugaring service is to be performed with client wearing disposable underwear or small towel to protect modesty and ensure discretion. Post care. STOP
    • 5 minutes to clean and sanitize the area.

Brow Sugaring

Scoring and judging will be based on the following:

Brow Sugaring Category:

  • Contestant must bring their own model. Photo of model’s brows before and after.
  • Contestant will provide the sugaring paste of their choice, a sugaring paste warmer, and all necessary supplies.
  • Brow hair must have at least 1/8th inch hair. A minimum of two weeks growth is best for showcasing skills. The darker and denser the hair, the better to showcase one’s skillset, before and after transformation.
  • 25 minutes Competition time Area to sugar will be both brows, top and bottom, and center.
    • 5 minutes to prepare your area and position your model. START
    • 15 minutes to prep skin, sugar both the brows, top, bottom and center, and use post care. STOP
    • 5 minutes to clean and sanitize the area.
