Working independently has taught me resourcefulness, but the TSG Community has helped me recognize how much there is still to learn. When you spend most of your day in your own treatment room, it is easy to become comfortable with your approach. Connecting with other professionals creates opportunities to ask questions, consider another perspective, and examine why you do what you do.
Entering The Skin Games as a Player challenged me to put my work out there and explain the decisions behind it. Becoming a judge, and later Director of Judges, expanded that learning. Within the TSG Community, I have seen professionals work toward similar goals while making different, thoughtful choices based on the skin in front of them.
Those experiences encourage me to stay curious. What did someone observe? Why did they choose that ingredient or modality? What prompted an adjustment? Those are questions I bring back to my own practice.
The quality of those conversations matters. Trust grows when we can admit uncertainty, discuss a challenge, and ask questions knowing we will be treated with respect. Within the TSG Community, we each have a responsibility to earn that trust through honest conversations, generous sharing, and care in how we offer feedback.
Accountability is part of that relationship. Explaining our decisions, being open to feedback, and following through on what we learn helps us grow. The TSG Community gives us opportunities to support one another while encouraging the professional standards our clients deserve.
After more than 25 years in esthetics, I still value being around people who give me something to think about. Experience gives us a foundation. Staying connected to the TSG Community helps me keep building on it.
The TSG Community has made me more willing to ask, more intentional about listening, and more thoughtful about my decisions. My clients benefit from that growth every time I return to the treatment room.
